"Goodbye yellow Brick Road" del 1973, è un album bellissimo, nonché probabilmente uno dei migliori che Elton abbia mai fatto. È pieno di pezzi stupendi, spesso legati dal filo della nostalgia, tra i quali spicca "Candle In The Wind", la traccia n.2 dedicata alla Diva: un pezzo molto toccante, uno dei più conosciuti di Elton John e probabilmente la canzone più bella dedicata a Marilyn Monroe.
Nel libretto ogni canzone è accompagnata da illustrazioni molto pop, sopra ecco la scan corrispondente.
L'immagine della fiammella della candela, in apparenza così fragile perché lotta in continuazione contro il vento che potrebbe spegnerla, eppure continua ad emanare luce attorno a se, sembra una metafora della sua travagliata vita.

Probabilmente però molti conoscono questo brano nella versione che Elton John ne fece per la morte di Lady Diana nel 1997: il singolo è ancora oggi uno dei più venduti nella storia della musica.
